Paste a bio, caption, or meta description and watch the character total update as you type. This page is for hard character caps, not essay word counts.

Counts run locally in this tab. Pocket Caliper never uploads the text you paste.

How to use

  1. Paste or type the text that must fit a limit.
  2. Read characters with spaces and without spaces.
  3. Trim until the total sits under the platform cap.

How it works

The main total counts every Unicode character, including spaces and line breaks. A second figure drops whitespace so you can see the compact length.

Use this when a field caps characters rather than words. For word totals or reading time, open those dedicated tools.

Examples

  • Twitter bio

A 160-character bio is a classic cap. Spaces count, so short words still spend the budget.

  • Meta description

Search snippets often sit near 150 to 160 characters. Both totals update while you edit.

FAQ

Do spaces count toward the total?

Yes in the main total. The second figure excludes whitespace.

How do emojis count?

The counter uses the Unicode length your browser sees. Some emoji sequences use more than one code point.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Counting stays in this browser tab.

How is this different from a word counter?

This page is built for character caps on bios, SMS, and forms. Word count is only a side figure here.
